Last week we went to Mirror Lake in the Adirondack Mountains to deliver a Greenwood. Here are some photos from Whiteface Mountain. It is primarily a ski slope, but in the summer they offer rides up the side in gondolas. It was quite the experience riding up with my whole family of 8 in one of those things - screaming every time the thing jiggled no less.
The rock on the very top, one which this sign rested, had a plaque that said it had been brought from Italy in honor of one the the U.S. Mountain Divisions that served during WWII. It was huge though, so I can't imagine how they got it up there, unless it was cut into small pieces and then craftily reassembled.
The view was great!
